Everything you need to know about Freedom Reins

Yes, absolutely! Freedom Reins is a 100% no cost program for all military veterans and first responders. There are no fees, no hidden costs, and no obligations. This is our way of honoring your service and giving back to those who have given so much.

Not at all! Freedom Reins welcomes participants of all experience levels, from complete beginners to experienced riders. Our instructors will meet you where you are and tailor the program to your comfort level and goals.

Horsemanship instruction focuses on learning riding skills, horse care, and equine knowledge. Therapeutic sessions emphasize the healing connection with horses, stress relief, and emotional support. You can choose the approach that best fits your needs, or combine both.

We ask for basic verification such as a military ID, DD-214, veteran's card, or first responder credentials. This is simply to ensure the program serves those it's intended for. Contact us if you have questions about documentation.

Freedom Reins sessions are specifically for veterans and first responders to create a safe, understanding environment. However, family members are welcome to observe, and we encourage you to explore our other programs if your family is interested in horsemanship.

Many of our participants have PTSD, anxiety, or other service-related challenges. Horses are incredibly intuitive and calming animals, and equine-assisted activities have been shown to help with trauma and stress. Our instructors are trained to create a safe, supportive environment. We encourage you to share any concerns so we can best support you.

Freedom Reins is an ongoing program with weekly sessions. There's no set end date—you can participate as long as you'd like. Sessions typically last 1-2 hours depending on the activities and your preferences.

Wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement, long pants, and closed-toe shoes (boots are ideal but not required). We provide helmets and any necessary safety equipment. Avoid loose jewelry or clothing that could get caught.
